01/2009 - CRS BOTY Awards 2008
FC is delighted and honoured to have received the prestigious MD's "Best Live Band of the Year 2008" award at the annual Classic Rock Society Band Of The Year (BOTY) Awards held on Saturday 10th January at the Montgomery Hall, Wath-upon-Dearne. Come and see us live to see why!!! You can find more information on the awards on the Classic Rock Society website.
Andy Lawton and Henry Rogers went to pick up the Classic Rock Society's Managing Director's Live Music Award from Steve Hackett, legendary Genesis guitarist. Andy Lawton said, "This award came as a complete surprise and all members of FC are absolutely chuffed. After many years as a member of the CRS this type of award means a great deal to me personally after all the years (23!!) of hard work, tears, tantrums, arguments, disappointment and elation (to name but a few). Long may the CRS continue and we will certainly carry on supporting the organisation and trying to entertain your members."
"2009 will see FC gigging extensively throughout the UK (including for the CRS) with European gigs also planned in Germany, Holland and Poland (TBC) and hopefully a visit to the USA," said Andy. "We are currently in the process of writing our next album "The Return of the Artisan" and plan to release it in the Autumn of 2009. We shall also be promoting our live DVD and CD filmed and recorded in Poland entitled "Another Moment in Time". Interest in this project has been fantastic and we have great interest from fans and distributors, so we hope to see further success with it."
Martin Hudson of the Classic Rock Society said, "Final Conflict are one of those bands that demand respect because they do it all for the love of it. They have been coming to the CRS and playing regularly for a cheese sandwich and a bag of crisps for many years now and recognition was overdue."
12/2008 - Christmas at the Rigger
FC had a fabulous time at the annual FC Christmas bash staged at the Rigger, Newcastle, Staffs on 27th December. The place was rammed with enthusiastic and ebullient fans and a great night was had by all. Many thanks to all that turned out to see us and Happy New Year to you all!
10/2008 - Live DVD and CD coming soon....
FC have returned to the UK in high spirits after a sell-out performance in the fabulous Wyspianski Theater. The gig was a huge success and the band could not believe the reception from an enthusiastic and appreciative audience. Watch out for an absolutely stunning live DVD and CD soon ..... and check out the fabulous pictures on the gigs page!
09/2008 - Chris Chalk
Regretfully Final Conflict has to announce that some of our friends and fans have been contacted under the name of ex-bassist Chris Chalk and have been subjected to some inaccurate and malicious information about the real reasons for Chris Chalk's departure. THE FACTS ARE!!!....Chris Chalk was asked to leave the family of Final Conflict, after all of the members felt that his past and present behaviour pushed the boundaries of acceptability. Some material for the new album had already been written with Chris's input but as a result of his departure ALL new material written with Chris has been discarded.
Final Conflict then leapt at the opportunity to find a replacement bassist who would be able to move the band forward. After a great deal of searching Final Conflict were fortunate enough to welcome Barry Elwood to the family, bringing with him a different style to the world of Progressive Rock. Barry joined Final Conflict for their gig at The Baltic Prog Festival in Lithuania in late July, and he will be performing on the Live DVD recording in Katowice, Poland on October the 13th. The DVD is earmarked for release around the Christmas Period this year. There will also be a live CD available for purchase at the same time.
Once again, we are truly sorry to those of you who have contacted us about the adverse comments that have been received and thank you for bringing them to our attention. These have now been taken to the appropriate authorities who have taken this matter very seriously and will be furthering the investigation on our behalf. Final conflict would like to thank everybody for their ongoing support, and we look forward to meeting up with you in the near future!
08/2008 - Forthcoming live DVD and CD
FC are pleased to announce that they will be performing a prestigious gig at the atmospheric Wyspianski Theater in Katowice Poland, alongside Pendragon and Credo. The gig will be filmed and a DVD will be available to buy, professionally produced and released by Metal Mind. Keep checking the "news" or "gigs" pages for details.
04/2008 - New bass player wanted
Bass player Chris Chalk has left the band to pursue other interests. Ex FC bassist Dave Bridgett has stepped in to fill the breach at live gigs until a new bass player can be recruited. There will be no cancelled gigs and FC looks forward to some storming sets at forthcoming shows.

Work on the new facilities at the Gaolhouse Studio nears completion and the band are very pleased with the results.
08/2007
Following a successful 6 months of gigging to promote the new album and to showcase the band's new drummer, Henry Rogers, FC is currently writing the songs for the next studio album, as well as building a new
recording and mixing suite at the Gaolhouse Studio. The new facilities will allow the band to work in much greater comfort, as well as providing a better recording environment.
01/2007
The band's new Myspace site www.myspace.com/finalconflictmusic has proven extremely successful
in promoting FC to a wider audience worldwide. It is well worth a visit to find the latest news and to hear tracks from various albums.
12/2006
Letter from the Editor:- The new Album has arrived. Kids, your Christmas presents may be a bit late this year as I have made Santa an
offer he can not refuse. He is letting FC use his Elves to pack and despatch copies of SIMPLE to all those that have pre-ordered the album.
Hope you all enjoy it as much as Final Conflict loved working on it. Now the boys are rehearsing hard for the up coming gigs.
11/2006
Well the Gaolhouse is really rocking at the moment. Final Conflict are rehearsing a full 2-hour set and playing many of the songs from the new album "SIMPLE".
The album is due for delivery in the next 3 weeks and should be available in time for Christmas. So all those who preordered can start counting the days.
Final Conflict will be throwing a special Christmas gig at the Rigger on 23rd December. This will be a very special night.
The new album will be on sale and the band will be unveiling their new drummer! It will also be our first gig at the Rigger since it reopened.
10/2006
The new album "Simple" is now going through the final stages of mastering and every effort is going in to getting the album released before Christmas. No, this is not a cynical marketing ploy to try and get a Christmas number one!
The band is tracking down a new drummer and it is determined to arrange gigs to give the new album a great launch into the "Progosphere". More on the new drummer and gig dates in the next week or two.
First a thank you to Dave Alexander who helped us complete the title track of the new album "Simple". Dave can often be found drumming for the legendary "Guitar George" (he knows all the chords) that Dire Straits took inspiration from and we were delighted when he agreed to help us out.
It was fast work from Dave laying down the drums for "It should have been simple" in one session. Quite an achievement as the track may well go down as Final Conflict's most challenging tracks.
Within the new album "Simple" there are re-workings of songs from the original cassette albums, like "The Following" and Channel 8. There are songs that have been regular hits at our live shows, that have "grown" from their original versions on the early CD albums and Then there is "(it should have been) Simple". This song is a mirror to the whole album reflecting eight classic Final Conflict tracks (seven on this album). I know the band are pleased with the end result and are itching to get out and play so keep an eye out for gig dates very shortly.
07/2006
If you "simply" cannot wait for your copy of "Simple" or want to make sure that you get a copy of the first pressing then please contact FC. Final Conflict are offering free delivery to all orders placed through the web site prior to the release of the album. So that's a copy of "Simple" and free delivery for just £10 (€15 Euro - $19 US)
Well as promised further news from the Land of Final Conflict.
The running order will be, 1.Solitude, 2.Rebellion, 3.The Janus, 4.Channel 8, 5.Pangeas Child, 6.The Following, 7.All Alone, 8.It Should Have Been Simple.
The running time for the album will be close on one hour so the boys are giving us value for money as always. The first seven tracks feature the drumming of Chris Moyden and he treated us to some of the best drumming ever to appear on an FC album. The final track is a new song based on the earlier seven tracks but also reflecting the musical journey of Final Conflict's 21-year history. Intrigued! Well you will be able to hear for your self very soon. The last track features the drumming of Dave Alexander Waszkowski who took time out from his other commitments to help us finish the album. More about Dave and the background to the songs later.
02/2006 - Gaolhouse Studio Renovation
Over the Christmas period and into 2006 Final Conflict could put off the inevitable no longer. The prospect of another winter in a cold dark studio was too much and direct action was the order of the day. It was interesting to see if the musical styles and characteristics of the band members were reflected in their DIY skills.
Steve Lipiec had a style and approach to DIY all his own. The others gave up trying to fathom his technique and left him to work solo.
Andy Lawton and Brian Donkin took to the task like ducks to water although at times it was difficult to tell if more paint hit the walls or each other.
Andy admiring Steve's work. Brian taking yet another well earned rest.
In the end the band had new lights for the main rehearsal room, refurbished the entrance hall and stairs, and brought the washroom into the 21st century. All in all it was a job well done.
01/2006
Happy New Year! And welcome to our updated website. You can expect and look forward to regular additions to the site this year.
A special thank you goes out this Month to Joe Moyden who is giving FC help and advice with the web page over the coming months - thanks Joe.
2006 is looking to be a busy year for FC. The 5th album is entering its final phase and will be out soon. Renovation work on the Gaolhouse (our studio) is under way and photographic evidence will follow soon. Album sales continue to grow and we are very pleased to have two additional outlets (Italy & USA) for you to get hold of copies of Hindsight or our back catalogue.
